Moby Dick is an extraordinary timeless novel. Published in 1851, it is the greatest masterpiece of American writer Herman Melville. It is the story of a man obsessed with hunting a dangerous and mysterious white sperm whale. The man in question, Captain Ahab, wants to take revenge on the cetacean because he ripped off his leg during a chase years ago. The whaling ship Pequod, led by the terrible Capt. Ahab, sets out to hunt the monstrous White Whale. Ahab is animated by a dastardly hatred and dull monomania. Only one of his subordinates, Starbuck, dissents from the mad plan to chase that sperm whale everywhere; nevertheless Ahab drags with him toward the fatal clash and toward the abyss his entire ship and crew.
